What the plugin does

  • Connect with OAuth: authorize the plugin with your Pixelfed instance without manually creating a personal access token.
  • Choose categories: enable category rules to control which published WordPress posts are shared.
  • Share images: use images from the post content, with the featured image as a fallback.
  • Customize captions and alt text: build captions from the post title, link, excerpt, category and date, and use existing image alt text or an alt-text template.
  • Set visibility: choose public or private visibility for each rule, subject to your instance’s capabilities.
  • Post automatically or manually: share when a published post is saved, or use the manual posting controls. Optional duplicate prevention checks for a previously stored Pixelfed status.

Getting started

In WordPress, open Settings > Auto Poster for Pixelfed, enter your Pixelfed instance URL and authorize your account. Configure a category rule, review the captions and visibility, then enable the rule when you are ready to share.

You need a compatible HTTPS Pixelfed instance and permission to publish the images you share. Instance limits and policies apply. Duplicate checks reduce repeat posting but do not guarantee exactly-once delivery; uncertain posting outcomes require review before retrying.
